10 movies that every medical student or doctor should see

1. Awakenings (1920)

Awakenings is based on the autobiography of neurologist Oliver Sacks, who in 1969 discovered the temporary positive effects of L-dopa in catatonic patients, survivors of the epidemic of sleeping sickness that occurred from 1917-1928, leaving millions of deaths worldwide .

4. 4th Floor (2003)

5. Patch Adams (1998)

8.  Extraordinary Measures (2010)

Despite having limited means, he and the team of doctors working in the hospital strive to provide solutions and hope to desperate patients with the disease.

10. Awake (2010)


Can you imagine being on a surgical table, about to be operated, and despite being fully anesthetized're able to feel and hear everything as if you were awake?

This experience is called consciousness with memories or intraoperative awareness. This is where the patient is conscious when undergoing surgery, regardless of which have anesthetized. The patient feels pain, hear the conversations of doctors who are operating and can not move. A whole torture.

For in this film reflects this experience. Clay (Hayden Christensen) is a young boy from a family of billionaires. Clay knows he is not long to live, and who suffers from heart problems and should undergo a transplant immediately. He lets his best friend, Dr. Jack Harper (Terrence Howard), is in charge of making the complicated operation. But something goes wrong during the operation, and will be when Clay account is given many things regarding your own life.
