16 rules for being a good student of medicine

All students of medicine, today we leave 16 rules that must be read, memorize and practice to be good students of medicine and better career :)

1. Learn to deal with uncertainty

2. Duda what you were taught, especially if it seems inconsistent or incoherent

3. Demonstrates what you know with humility. At the end of the day, someone you knew before

4. Be yourself all the time

5. Enjoy

6. Try to practice medicine with the same ethics and principles you thought when you walked into the faculty

7. That never scare you admit your ignorance

8. The medicine is not only clinical work also deals with relationships, teamwork, systems, communication skills, research, publications and critical evaluation

9. Treat your patients with the same care and respect you would if they were friends or family soul

10. Beyond the family there is a close link between doctor and patient

11. Do not believe everything you read in newspapers and medical journals

12. The objective is to know how to learn, how to get relevant medical information, and how to critically evaluate information

13. The first 10 times you do something (to present a patient, putting an intravenous catheter, sew a laceration), it will be difficult, so go through those 10 times as fast as possible

14. Although you should not be afraid to say "do not know" when appropriate, should not be afraid to be wrong

15. Rate each rotation during your training, even if you have no intention of continuing the specialty, because you're doing things and sharing experiences that are unique

16. When you have a bad day, and you're tired, stressed, burned by the job, and do not value enough, do not forget that things are much worse for the person at the cold end of the stethoscope. The day may be bad, but you do not have pancreatic cancer
